Coach Miller's Thoughts on Hitting . . .
1. Heels down in a balanced and relaxed position - don't start with the majority of your weight on your backside foot.
2. Shoulders back or "lean back" - this helps the bat path to stay flat through the ball.
3. Have an approach and be on time - when you're caught off guard or are late to getting the barrel to the hitting zone, the bat head drops because you're fighting to catch up to the pitch . . . consequently, your hands/arms/barrel drop, the swing becomes loopy, and you don't square up the ball.
*Be able to hit to all fields - good hitters can hit the ball where ever they want.
